Viltrox 56mm f1.7 Fujifilm X Mount - One Month Review
Last month I picked up the Viltrox 56mm f1.7 lens for the Fuji X-Mount. In this blog I will give you my review after using it for a month. In the image below, you can see what it looks like.
For your information, this blog post is not sponsored and I paid for this lens with my own money so all opinions are my own.
Build Quality & Look
Giving the low price of this lens (only $180 on Amazon right now), it looks really well-built and it is. Just like with the XC35mm I reviewed yesterday, it isn’t weather sealed but I didn’t have any trouble using it in a intense storm last month in Amsterdam.
It still works perfectly.
The 56mm equates to 84mm on a full-frame camera so you can get up real close in the streets. That’s mainly where I use this lens for: street photography and portraits.
Perfect if you ask me.
As mentioned it’s a Fuji X-mount lens so it fits on all your X-series Fujifilm cameras, in the image above you see it mounted to my X-H2 and it looks really well in my opinion.
It’s made of plastic, you can’t expect anything else for that price though.
That said, it also doesn’t have a physical aperture dial. You can change the aperture in-camera and it works perfect going all the way down to f1.7.
Autofocus
Also, the autofocus works good and is fast. It does the things you’d expect from a lens in 2024/25, even when it’s in low-light.
Image Quality
The quality of the photos this lens produces is good, really good. As I said I used it on a trip to Amsterdam and it was really bad weather. It delivered some amazing shots in the rain. The images are sharp, much sharper than you would expect from a $180 lens.
Having used it for a month now gives me a good idea how it works and it does that really well - especially when you’re on a budget. For the amount of money you pay for this lens it works really well and I’d recommend it to you to use it.
