The Best Fujifilm Lens for Travel - Fujifilm XC 35mm f/2.0 Review
It’s been 2 months since I switched to the Fufjifilm X-H2 system from my Canon EOS R8. Both great cameras to begin with. In this blog I’ll tell you what lens to use on your travels if you only could pick one.
And that would be the Fujifilm XC 35mm f/2.0.
For your information, this blog post is not sponsored and I paid for this lens with my own money so all opinions are my own.
One of the first things I want to mention is the price of this lens. It’s a a cheap lens with a cost of $199. Very low price for such a great lens - with an minimum aperture of f/2 you get amazing sharpness for a good price.
That price makes it available to any starter photographer.
Mounting this lens on a budget-ish Fuji camera like the X-T30 ii or the X-T50 gives everybody the opportunity to take sharp photos. Unlike the expensive lenses Canon offers for the RF systems.
Since the Fujifilm X-series systems are APC cameras, this lens has the equivalent of a 50mm full frame lens. So that’s a perfect lens for travel, street photography - basically an amazing allround lens. The ‘Nifty Fifty’ as it’s often called because it’s well built, has high quality and cheap.
Build Quality & Look
This lens is overall well-built. But when comparing it to its more expensive brother, the XF35 f/2.0 it obviously has a ‘cheaper’ look.
The XF-version is made out of metal and the XC-version is not, besides that, the aperture. can’t be changed on the XC-lens itself, while on the XF-version that’s possible.
But that shouldn’t hold you back to use it in my opinion. Just like the fact that this lens doesn’t come with weather sealing, making it maybe unfit for heavy weather conditions like storms or blizzards but for regular shooting in rain it’s just fine. Just take care like you should always do.
When we’re looking at the ergonomics of this lens, it’s very lightweight and small - making sure it fits in every bag or pocket.
As I said, the aperture isn’t configurable on the lens itself, it does’t bother me but if it does you should consider the XF-version of the lens.
Image Quality
The results from this lens are amazing. Great quality photos from this lens. I’ve picked it up to have small beast in my pocket all the time and it delivers.
Setting this lens up with a Fuji Recipe like the one I use in the photos above makes it produce great images. Then, does it come with autofocus? Yes it does. And it’s pretty good for a lens of this price range.
Overall I’d say this a great lens for traveling and street photography. If you’re on a budget but still want a good lens, pick it up!
