5 Best Travel Destinations to Empty Your Head

Do you feel overwhelmed? Burnt out?

If you do, maybe it’s time to take a little time off. Visit beautiful places for example and try to relax.

There are so many beautiful places and regions in the world that you can visit to enhance your mindfulness. Try turning off the parts of your brain that stress and create anxiety.

Try to enhance creativity by visiting these places and becoming mindful.

1 — Bernese Oberland Region in Switzerland

The Bernese Oberland region is one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland. It has the best of both worlds, mountains, and lakes.

This summer I visited Grindelwald, one of the local towns.

And when you go down a couple of kilometers you’ll end up in Lauterbrunnen, a town that looks just as pretty.

Even though it’s a very tourist place, you’ll find your piece here by walking just a little further and enjoying the spectacular views of this area.

2 — Ticino Area in Switzerland

If you like Italy and Switzerland, Ticino is perfect.

When you’re traveling through the Ticino area, you’ll see all these cute and cozy villages with spectacular views but you’ll also notice how few people there are in this region.

One of the most popular cities in this area is Lugano.

It’s the town that lies on the border of Italy/Switzerland and with the lake, you’ll get a very Italian feeling.

But if you decide to go up a little to the north, you’ll see the beautiful Alps.

3 — The Scottish Highlands

Okay, I’ve never been to the Scottish Highlands, but it didn’t take much for us to visit them back in May. But unfortunately, because we don’t have a passport (yet) we can’t visit the United Kingdom. (Thanks Brexit)

But it’s quite a relaxing area.

Especially when you’re actually going into the highlands.

I really want to see “The Isle of Skye”. It’s a place that’s so remote that you’ll have to visit it by this bridge.

4 — Tyrol in Austria

From the Isle of Skye to Tyrol in Austria.

When we were traveling through Switzerland and Austria in May, we also got through Tyrol.

Innsbruck to be specific.

We got out of the train to take a couple of pictures and see the town for ourselves. It felt really Italian and I love the atmosphere there.

5 — The Dolomites in Italy

From Tyrol and South Switzerland, you’ll end up in the Dolomites in Italy.

I’d never been there on my own and when we went there, we didn’t get out of the car to see the beautiful scenery.

There’s a YouTube channel of a guy called Martijn Doolaard, who’s been building a cabin in the Italian Alps.

I believe it’s in the Dolomites as well. If you’re interested you can watch one of his videos here.

Final Thoughts

These were some of the most beautiful and quiet places in Europe. Mostly they’re in the center of Europe. The core of the continent holds all the pretty lakes and mountains and when you can find places where there are so few people, you can relax and become truly mindful.

I want to do a “workcation” in the near future and visit Ticino. To see if I can relax more and get work done better.

Maybe I’ll become more creative. Let’s find out.
